The object was offered to a selected circle of investors by NAI Apollo Frankfurt on behalf of the seller. Within this process, LIP was able to secure the highly sought-after transhipment warehouse. The property, designed as a so-called parcel distribution centre (Mechanised Delivery Base), has been used by Deutsche Post since its construction in 2012. The existing lease continues in the long term.
The object is made up of 5,000 square meters of hall and office space, as well as 80 parking spaces for trucks, vans and cars. The real estate is conveniently located at the main station in Braunschweig. The tenant uses the site as the delivery base for the entire city area of Braunschweig and the surrounding districts. This first so-called Mechanised Delivery Base has since become an integral part of the network of the leading parcel delivery company Deutsche Post.
The seller of the real estate is a large German pension fund. LIP received legal advice from SNP Schlawien, tax advice from Mazars and technical support from Gleeds throughout the acquisition processes.
Bodo Hollung, Partner and Managing Director of LIP Invest, “We are pleased that, with the purchase of this parcel distribution centre, we can continue to diversify our fund. Following the acquisition of the Hermes fulfilment centre in Haldensleben, we are able to meet the needs of the booming e-commerce sector at fund level as well.”
