LIP Invest: Logistics centre Obernburg fully rented

LIP Invest, leading investment manager for logistics real estate in Germany, achieves full letting of the new building acquired in 2020.

The 77,000 square meter logistics centre Obernburg, Erlenbacher Straße, consists of 8 separate – completely self-sufficient – hall sections and is now rented to five different users. JLL Frankfurt and NAI Apollo Frankfurt supported the marketing. With these leases, LIP was able to fully let its 875,000 square meter logistics property portfolio.

“The high demand and the rapid letting success at the location surprised us. Thus, we were able to avoid any loss of rent for the originally speculatively acquired space. However, we could not meet all of the space requests. The users were particularly impressed by the high level of security, the services offered by Mainsite, the site operator of the ICO Industry Centre Obernburg, and the high environmental standards of the property”, says Alexander Decker, Director Asset Management at LIP Invest.

Many environmental aspects were implemented in the construction of the centre. In addition to intelligent lighting control, the forest ground of the property was transplanted onto the biodiversity roof – the largest in Bavaria – and habitats were created for different plant and animal species. This construction method also benefits the tenants: On hot days, the microbiotope on the roof acts like a heat shield, while on cold days it forms additional thermal insulation.

Rentals over medium and long-term periods

By renting in Obernburg, Teamlog GmbH Spedition und Logistik, a medium-sized, owner-managed company from Aschaffenburg, is expanding its network of locations to ten branches in the Rhine-Main area. The portfolio of the logistics service provider includes contract, warehouse and transport logistics. In addition, they offer logistics consulting. Teamlog will act as a contract logistician on the approximately 11,400 square meters of Unit 7.

Westcoast Ltd., a technology provider from Great Britain, is renting a unit with 2,300 square meters. The privately owned company employs around 1,600 people and posted sales of 3.5 billion euros last year. In Germany, Westcoast is already represented with a company headquarter in Aschaffenburg. The rented logistics hall in Obernburg serves the expansion into the European market. On site, the distribution of the company’s own technology products is handled.

Geis Industrie-Service GmbH, part of the Geis Group, is expanding its rented space at the Obernburg location to a total of 11,300 square meters. The full-service logistics provider will supply the storage and distribution of medical technology products for a well-known manufacturer. The Geis Group employs around 6,100 people at 127 locations across Europe, including 72 logistics locations.
