LIP Invest, a leading provider of special real estate funds for institutional investors in the logistics real estate asset class in Germany, has already handed over the newly constructed transshipment property in Herbrechtingen, Robert-Bosch-Strasse, to DB Schenker as the new user in June 2022.
At the end of September 2022, the property was officially inaugurated and the successful relocation was celebrated on a grand scale.
With the move from the previous Ulm branch to Herbrechtingen, DB Schenker is further expanding its Europe-wide land transport network. With its direct proximity to the A7 and A8 freeways, the location is very well connected and enables the logistics service provider to further increase its capacities. Currently, 600 tons of goods are handled daily in Herbrechtingen.
In the economic region of Ulm, DB Schenker serves numerous customers, particularly from the food industry, the building materials industry and mechanical engineering.
The new cross-dock terminal, with its 7,000 square meters of warehouse space and 15,200 square meters of paved outdoor space and 74 truck ramps, enables fast and efficient logistics processes.
LIP had already acquired the site directly from the Herbrechtingen municipality in 2021 as part of a forward deal with project developer Panattoni.
Numerous aspects of climate protection were taken into account in the new construction. In addition to the installation of e-charging stations and the construction of spacious and comfortable social areas, LIP Invest will now implement the installation of a photovoltaic system on the roof surfaces, much to the delight of Herbrechtingen's mayor Daniel Vogt, together with its sister company AvanLog Solar. In addition, the project will receive a DGNB Gold certification.
